Simple and compact, this multipurpose furniture piece mixes two typologies. This Stool turns into a stool as soon as you sit on it, and becomes a side table when you place items on it. Because the stool has only three legs, the lower shelf is easily accessed. It offers space for magazines and everyday items.
Measures 39,6 cm in width and 44 cm in height.

Oak wood with transparant colour and a clear coating.

Karimoku is a manufacturer of wood furniture from central Japan with history of more than 70 years.

Their tradition derives of a deep understanding of carpentry craftsmanship combined with cutting-edge technologies to build furniture of the highest possible quality. Aiming to preserve and revitalize Japanese forests and resume a balance with local forest industry, the products are made using sustainably sourced Japanese hardwoods, such as maple, chestnut and oak-low-diameter trees that are often discarded or ending up as paper pulp. The furniture pieces are made to bring lasting joy, true to the credo that a piece of furniture should last at least as long as the tree it was made from.

As a creative director Teruhiro Yanagihara initialized and established the KARIMOKU NEW STANDARD brand. His projects cross boundaries and cultures to form encounters between contemporary design, industries and Japanese crafts. He is a product designer for clients such as Wallpaper* (UK) and Kimura Glass (Japan), and an interior designer for Sergio Rossi (Italy) and Less Is More (LIM) Group in Japan, among others. He is also one of the creative talents behind ceramics brand 1616/ Arita Japan.
