THE PRODUCT

Poul M. Volther designed our famous J46 chair in 1956, creating what is undoubtedly one of the greatest successes in FDB Møbler's history. Lightweight and refined. Designed in 1956. The J46 is an obvious choice as a kitchen chair, but it’s also suitable for a larger table in the dining room if the aim is to fit several smaller chairs but maintain good comfort.

THE MATERIALS

The seat is of molded oak. Back, legs, and frame are solid oak. The chair has an smoked oiled finish. All wood is FSC certified from European forests. Note: Wood is a natural material, and slight differences in appearance can occur, even small variations in the same piece of furniture. This chair is adapted and adjusted to present-day sizes and seating comfort.

THE MAKER

Volther assumed the position of design supervisor for FDB Møbler in 1950, after Børge Mogensen. Like his predecessor, he was very keen on developing a simple design language and a highly functional aesthetic. Among the products of this philosophy was the iconic J46, an appealing combination of clarity of form and generous comfort.
